Will entry be judged unfavourably without detailed input from other consultants?
It looks like the competition brief calls for potential detailed input of expertise from different consultants such as;
- structural engineer in regards to cyclone resistant structural design
- cost consultant to calculate cost premium offsetting
- Green Star consultant to calculate carbon footprint
As such will entries without detailed inputs of such consultants be unfavourably judged if the architectural team make assumptions in regards to above?
It will be difficult to organise a team of full suite of consultants to provide free service for competition entry.
The Entries will not be judged unfavourably without detailed inputs from other consultants. Assumptions based on sound reasoning and/or examples will be welcome.
To facilitate the comparison of your submission with the Benchmark Project, drawings of the Benchmark Projects are available in the .dwg, .rvt, .ifc and .pdf file formats; for costing, .xls files are provided, referring to the rates available in the 2023 edition of Rawlinsons Cost Guide.
To quantify the carbon footprint of the New Design, Entries don’t need to refer to the Benchmark Design, because the Greenstar’s Upfront Carbon Emissions calculation guide is intended for a comparison against a reference model, rather than a fixed benchmark. In other words, it allows to compare your New Design to itself, if it was built according to the “Default specifications for residential-type buildings”, steel frames option.
